Learning Objectives: 1) Introduce the theoretical and empirical foundations underlying mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs). 2) Describe key practices, adaptations, and challenges of MBIS. 3) Explain and practice effective and ethical implementation of MBIs with clients. 4) Instruct practitioners on the benefits and importance of a personal mindfulness practice and explain how to create and maintain a self-practice.
Workshop Description: Foundations of MBIs and various mindfulness techniques. Participants will learn practical applications of implementing MBIs in everyday life as well as in clinical settings. The various therapeutic approaches with foundations in mindfulness will be explored including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). The effective and ethical implementation of MBIs will be discussed.

Workshop Facilitators: K. Heather Koth, MS, APC, NCC and Kat Bazile, MS, LPC, NCC are both experienced clinicians, educators, and researchers with formal training in mindfulness. They have presented both locally and nationally on topics that have included mindfulness and substance use disorders, treating depression with MBIs, and the use of MBIs within rehabilitation counseling settings. Presenting in collaboration with Compassion Cove Counseling, LLC.
